West Midlands Fire Service – Replacement Lighting

West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) supported by IEWM (Improvement and Efficiency West Midlands) awarded ECA the contract to undertake a one off piece of work to replace the internal and external light fittings and controls at all Fire Service Sites. The purpose of this exercise is to provide energy saving fittings, reduce maintenance costs, improve control with the use of sensors and provide significant overall energy efficiency savings and improved security.

Electrical Energy Savings

The old type of fluorescent fittings used approximately 10W/M2 whereas the modern energy saving fittings are approx 4.5W/M2 for the same lighting level. The expected cashable savings from energy reduction is 15% and an additional cost reduction of £22,500 for electrical maintenance is anticipated from the implementation of this new scheme.
