3663 – Banbury Depot
The works comprised of supply and installation of two new 1000kVA generators at the 3663 Banbury site.
The generators were installed to replace an original ageing portable unit, which had limited capability.
The replacement generators offer a much needed automatic back up should a common power failure occur.
The generator units have been installed externally to the building, enclosed in a purpose built enclosure.
The generator enclosure and fuel tanks are protected on three sides by existing brick built walls; the forth side is protected by an Arco barrier.
The barrier has been installed so should it be required it can be removed and then replaced.
The project included, in addition to the two 1000 kVA generators, a changeover panel, the final connection into the existing main LV panel and the existing LV transformer together with cable containment and cabling installed from the transformer compound to the changeover switch, existing transformer and the existing LV panel.
On a common power failure at the depot, the changeover panel will automatically signal the generators to start and provide a replacement source of supply. When the mains power is restored the changeover switch will automatically switch back to mains power and close down the generators.
2x 1000kVA generators, changeover panel and connection to the main LV panel.
